ABOUT THE SHOW
A funny, quirky, touching play about a young woman from Brazil and the women she meets after coming to the States. A story about love, loss – and telling the perfect joke.

Auditions will be held on the Mercer County Community College West Windsor Campus. Check the Kelsey Theatre sign board for a room location on the day of your audition.

PREPARATION
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Sides will be provided via email prior to audition dates.
We are eager to see any actor interested.
No experience in straight plays? We’d love to see you.
REHEARSALS:
Based on availability of the final cast, a read-thru and table work will commence in late November/early December, 2024; rehearsals will then be held 2 - 3 weeknights and 1 weekend afternoon until the two weeks before performances.
Direction and stage management are committed to respecting everyone’s time, so a final schedule will be made—again, based on actors’ availability— to make the best use of actors’ time and to minimize downtime.
SEEKING
Roles unless specified are open to performers of all races, gender identities, sexual orientations, body types, ages (over 18) and abilities.
For this production, S70 is seeking a total of 5 actors.
All roles are non-equity and unpaid.

Matilde
female identifying, mid 20s - early 30s.
Born in Brazil, a Person of Color, Latinx, or mixed race
Actor must learn a few phrases (including one joke) in Portuguese, and possibly Spanish
“She has a refined sense of deadpan”
Ana
Female identifying, mid 50s - mid (to possibly late) 60s
Argentinian, a Person of Color, Latinx, or mixed race
Actor must learn a few phrases in Portuguese, and possibly Spanish.
Charismatic. She has breast cancer.

Lane
Female identifying, early 50s - early 60s
American. A doctor. A bit Type A.
Virginia
Female identifying, late 50s - mid 60s
American. Lane’s sister, expressive but less sure of herself
